Theyre not really related, and they both want to destroy Veronica and her family. I can definitely see him falling in love with her once he realizes who she is and knowing they have the same goal in mind. His hatred right now for her isnt really meant for elena.

Too bad he loses. I like him as a character tbh. I mean yeah hes a horrible person right now but he's basically like Elena except dumber. He's filled with just as much hate.
