Uh, that's not cheese. That's "processed cheese food". Call me an elitist, but I like cheese on my hamburgers, not plastic.

Secondary note: There is no way in Hell that girl needs to lose weight.
 
@Purplelibraryguy unobtainable beauty standards are a hell of a drug. Also processed cheese tends to be a favorite of many burger enthusiasts due to the fact it actually melts. Real cheese can taste good but its lack of abbility to melt, its tendency to separate when heated into the fat and milk, and it being very greasy if you do melt it correctly makes processed cheese look nice in comparison. If you want the best of both worlds it IS possible to make your own processed cheese out of real cheese and it only takes some basic kitchen equipment and skill I believe. Just food for thought
 
@bowser_communist I've always been more about taste than presentation. And I like me some really good cheese whether it's melted properly or not. I'm particularly lucky in my city--I've discovered that if you look at the price of the pretty-good cheeses in the pretty-good-cheese section of the grocery store, it turns out most of the seriously posh cheese in the snazzy specialty cheese shop doesn't actually cost any more. So if a chain grocery store is going to gouge me just as much for not-as-good cheese, I find I might as well go for the gusto and give the money to an independent shop whenever I can get out to it.
 
I just ate a burger yesterday and now I'm craving for one again. God dammit...
 
@bowser_communist there is lots of real cheese that also melts. Truth to be told the more plastic variety is the one that is worse than some real ones, specially in the oven. In my case i buy the processed one because is dirty cheap and to change a bit things around, but given that the difference in cost in the places i have lived in is not so much i do not that frequently.
 
The cheese that doesn't melt is mostly hard and/or aged.

Semi-hard/soft cheese melts just fine.

As long as it's cow milk cheese - sheep or goat cheese also doesn't melt well.
 
Processed cheese is just cheddar and/or colby cheese that has been processed to have a low melting point. Additional preservatives are also added to give it a longer shelf life. You can apply the same process to other cheeses to get a different flavor. When you're complaining about the flavor of processed cheese, you're really complaining about the of mild cheddar or colby cheese.
