As I thought, MC is not saying a thing about his latest encounter with greenhead; he's also not internally contemplating why he's not doing so, just make the audience tense. He really should be super concerned for her safety, because it's not like greenhead needs to ask Karen out on a date or anything to get her alone; he just needs to show up, gas them both, and have his way. Now, it could be that greeney is merely passive-aggressively forcing our MC into 'saving' the woman himself, but that hasn't been his style so far.
