Oh no! What happened to the gym teacher? It doesn't seem like it could possibly be anything the math teacher said or did, so it must be a personal problem; I hope he's okay (and that he will rely on him, too). I was lowkey really annoyed when he suggested a race because I also assumed it would be an obvious win for him. At first, I thought he just really liked teasing the math teacher, but he's actually been so sincere. I'm really excited to see their relationship progress.
Also, this chapter made me cry so much because I can really relate to their experiences as a fellow teacher (and former track athlete). I didn't really struggle in school (or track) until I went to college when my depression and anxiety were at an all-time high. My procrastination due to a paralyzing case of perfectionism actually almost prevented me from even becoming a teacher. And I still struggle with my executive functioning to this day (I literally had a mental breakdown right before Christmas break), but I love teaching because I can empathize (almost a little too well) with my students who struggle with their EF skills.
That being said, I can also very much relate to the frustration of trying to help a student who isn't yet comfortable sharing the truth with you, so I was really happy to see Nishio-sensei's student starting to open up to him about why he doesn't want to go to T University. And I hope we learn more about him and his boyfriend (presumably the boy who lead Nishio-sensei to the station last chapter).
I didn't realize I was going to love this story so much. Thank you for translating it!!
