While the historical empire they talk about seems to have clear parallels with the Romans, I wonder if this world had its own Hannibal too and in turn Cannae. The situation they were in there certainly seemed to have the right conditions to pull one off, but that doesn't seem to be part of the generally known arts of war here. Still well played.
