Should "Transgender" tag be implemented? :rejected:

Imo, change Genderswap to Genderbender and keep Crossdressing as is.

@Ryou "Transgender genderswap" is different from "plot-convenience genderswap" since the characters want/don't want to be trans.

Why don't we just put an umbrella term for that third tag and call it a day? I'm sick of seeing people (@gothicshark) being triggered about a small issue that they expand into an entire whole freaking continent.

Hello everyone.

first thanks for providing this platform. I use MangaDex daily and really enjoy it!
So I also visited everyday the search for 'Gender Bender' due to bookmark saving. For me this was the ideal solution because I had the newest Manga regarding this genre. I could pick out the mangas I like and was happy the way it was.
For my personal preferences I would like to keep it this way, but this seems to be to late.

So why not make a compromise, let the tags the way they are right now, add the trans gender tag, but also bring back the 'Gender Bender' genre.
This way they are all together, for the humans, but also the algorithm can work better with the added tags.

Agree with Teasday, transgender manga barely exist as a genre so a separate tag is unnecessary.

You can use the Genderswap and Crossdressing tags to get almost entirely the same results. If you were using the Gender Bender tag to find a few transgender manga among hundreds of non-transgender manga, you're better off using MangaUpdates to do that.

Transgender would definitely be misused, and those doing so would have no idea they are doing anything wrong. In fact, I am doubtful that half the people voting even knew what it meant.
As a basic definition, its when gender identity and birth sex do not match. Najimi from Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu. is transgender at least half of the time (or genderqueer 100% of the time. Not sure which). Not because of their clothing, nor the things they do, but because of how they view themselves.
