A part of me thinks they were supposed to put "beloved" there, the term is ambiguous but would essentially denote her as both his fiance or as his lover, but not cement either of them.

That would definitely have been a better word choice but I imagine the translators had to go with whatever was closest to the author’s original intent. The female lead continues to talk about him still being childish, so him declaring her as his lover with no care for the social consequences does seem to stay somewhat true to that. If he had more social tact, I think you’re right, “beloved” would have been perfect.
