I honestly found it much funnier that the dragonnewt was complaining about the lack of cooperation from the party, specifically because he forced himself on the party, rather than the idea that the MC should have a tad more tact, and straight up tell them: "Why, yes, I really do not need any of you."
I mean, gosh. These stories reek of edgy one liners if you actually start talking about them.

I'm on MC's side for taking immediate action instead of talking things out, as a) he has the analyzing ability to see if he can take it and where to hit and b) the power to stop it. All around the dragonnewt might be right, that coordination is important and nobody should rush things on their on, but that thing was fast and dangerous. Fleeing and trying to talk things out might have endangered the group members, while on the other hand MC attacking it was the safest course of action in this case.
