Spiral - Suiri no Kizuna

“Things just go with the flow” the manga. Don’t be fooled by the description, this manga will delve into one of the deepest shithole ever known to mankind and is the pure definition of a hit or miss.

You’ll either like it for its complex and awe-inspiring talks about the struggle between hope and despair; the wonderful characters and the heartwarming chemistry between them, as well as their clear-cut development; hilarious comedy and nice drops of romance here and there; amazing plot and story-building that develops strongly and clearly as the manga goes on which all wrapped up magnificently; the well laid out mysteries that are solvable with the readers’ imagination and have them on the edge of their seats as they read the next panel.

OR you’ll hate it because of its boring and often nonsensical biblical talks about good and bad only to come to one conclusion that’ll pretty much disappoint everyone; the poor pay-off after all the wonderful character developments, the fact that pretty much every characters are either a Mary-Sue or just get mistreated and neglected after their work is done, or both; forced romance that will drag on from start to finish; poor storyline that just continues to be made up with each new chapter, to the point where it’s so unnecessarily complex that one of the main plotline just gets omitted completely
at one point the Blade Children plot point just completely disappear and become completely irrelevant to the storyline. Even when they’re brought up again, their presence is so weak that it heavily degraded the ending. Also Kiyotaka’s payoff was WEAK
; the “mysteries” that just aren’t, and get more boring, confusing and weaker past a certain point.

Or of course, you’ll have mixed feelings about it. One thing’s for sure, the art is out of this world. Seriously, that’s the best part of the whole manga. Also the horrible ending which contradicts everything the manga has built up to. Maybe you’ll like it - but you’d have to read it yourself to get the full experience. Overall I REALLY liked it and highly recommend to give this a try if you want to read something thrilling, but it’s understandable if you’d drop this half-way through

Came back to finish this after many many many years. Good thing I stayed away from it for so long I guess. Tried to do interesting things, but the execution was weak and that ending was beyond meh.
