tbf in the ancient era this is supposed to be set in, many nobles would only be paired based on wealth, looks, and status. He likes her mainly for her looks and she acts like a 'bitch' because she, as a woman who already has everything, desires a husband who has everything plus more. Literally almost everyone in that world who has a simliar amount to her acts like a bitch, whether male or female. I don't really consider her that much of a bitch compared to that other girl that held a marriage tournament. God she was insufferable.

Our MC is no different really, he fell in love with the first pretty girl who was nice to him and still holds on to that emotion even though he's spent so much more time with the princess. I think it's just a chinese series thing but at the same time, I think a lot has to do with what the culture was like in ancient china in general.

@Azapuela he likes her enough to not want to deceive her. Simple as that. Using something like this is considered 'cheating' which is why MC gave him the choice to do it or not. Something achieved with a legendary pill rather than hard effort/strength that the girl wants is undermining both of their values and starts off the relationship with a lie he'd have to live with. ATM, he's just telling her he has a way but he won't do that because he'll try to earnestly earn her trust and love. If that fails then well, at least he tried with his own efforts.

These are martial artists and perspective into their ethics is important to consider when they make decisions like this.

And I get what you're saying, he could have not taken the pill and not said anything either. I think it's just for muh fall in love PLOT.
At the same time he's kind of showing off the power of his brother, showing her "it's possible like you denied bih" kinda thing.

Because in cultivator novels/wuxia/xianxia, love is actually just 'righteous lust'. Rather than actual love, for some reason. He saw her, his dick got hard, and he felt like he wanted to keep seeing her = love, apparently.
