Weird, from what I read in the novel this was different from what I remember. In the novel they escaped together, had a discussion about her circumstances, and then they just slept together consensually. When he woke up she was gone.

So.... This whole subplot was for nothing, since the girl is still rejecting him in favor of the martial palace just like she'd told him before and he already knew.

Really all that was achieved is that the MC has another low tier "rival" male character to curb stomp, and he was essentially raped. So hurray! Very legal, very cool.
