Or not. You never know with these manhuas. I hope not.

Seriously, she's been the character that had the most character growth and character exposition in the entire manhua. Plus the fact that she's older, she has a less than pleasant past, she was a not-nice antagonist. Sure, very cliche, but I liked it and she's a lot more interesting than many other characters in this rather stereotypical manhua.

So yeah, I hope she's not really dead-dead.

I completely agree. Normally in xianxia, if an even slightly older woman takes an interest in the MC he's afraid and runs away from her as if scared he's gonna catch the COVID or something.

They had some chemistry here, though.

Agreed. When Mingyu first appeared in chapter 296, I disregarded her as yet another arrogant noble that only existed so that the protagonist could showcase his powers and teach her a lesson. A bully too full of herself because of her power, an older femme fatale that relied on her station and feminine charms to boss others around. The feeling only increased when she ambushed the heroes to steal their artifacts and lost miserably.

I think it was in ch. 322 when things changed. The focus was, for once, on one enemy's pitiful pleas for help, and she truly changed her mind about Xinghe and her role in the Divine Sword family. Add that she kept trying to help Xinghe in spite of his obvious mistrust and her heartbreaking backstory in the last chapter, and she's one of the most three-dimensional characters in the series (which is not a high bar, but still).

For all its faults, I admit that I come back to Star Martial God Technique because it shows some of these gems from time to time. Like how Yuning went from "main heroine's aggressive friend" to "main heroine". Or how Liang Yu, our very first smug antagonist, became Xinghe's most dangerous, conniving and murderous ally.

Honestly i know she’s going to live and I’m super disappointed. This would be a pretty good time to have someone die without it being a plot necessary character. But never mind character development. We prefer harem.
