Starting out as Friends With a Yankee Girl - Vol. 2 Ch. 9

The only thing I don't agree with is washing your hair every day. Unless you're sweating and getting dirty a lot, it's healthier for your hair to wash it every other day. I'm more concerned by the fact she has to inform him of things like washing his hands after the bathroom...

@Acolytus I don't know man, that straight comparison to the sparkly guy, that she pull was a bitchy way, she could just tell him straight in the face, after all she supposed to be "yankee girl".

@Acolytus

I take "just be yourself" to mean that you shouldn't pretend to be something you aren't, not that you shouldn't worry about self-improvement or trying to be more attractive.

@Kevadu @robloxoof Yeah... It’s normal but there are some extremely unhygienic legends. I know one guy who hasn’t bathed for 40days, never washes his hands after toilet and doesn’t even change his clothes for days. (He is not my friend. He is just someone I know. No one can be his friend).

How does she know he washes his hands after using the bathroom? This girl gets around a lot huh? 🤔

Some of those are basic common sense. Especially washing your hand after using the bathroom. But surprisingly, there are still degenerates that don't do that. The most horrifying case, someone wipe their ass after doing their business but don't even bother to wash their hands before exiting the bathroom.

So he got sweaty (from, what, PE?) and somehow she knows this and can somehow smell him from feet away? Then she starts comparing him to some guy that practices basic hygiene (...let's leave aside the very questionable bit where she knows what he does in the bathroom somehow) and is overly concerned with his appearance and suggests he does that? Doesn't this kind of conflict with that past "have more self-esteem" bit? I mean, it'd be one thing if his hygiene was legitimately bad. But it isn't. And while human sweat does smell, it's also rather fucking difficult to smell it from feet away unless it's old and used clothing (which, admittedly, can smell terrible, depending, and from a slight distance at that), so it's questionable how the fuck she even smelled him to begin with.

This girl really grates me for some reason. Mainly because her entire character is based around trying to be a "helpful" "older sister" like character that helps with his "personality flaws" while having a myriad of her own.

It's also interesting, because the last chapter with the dream actually had substance and depth to it instead of... this low effort shit... where it's like what a program that interacts with humans would think humans would say. I thought the manga might potentially start finding itself, gaining a teensy-weensy bit of self-awareness (and not in the ironic sense) and actually try for something substantive. Apparently I was wrong. For instance, just having a SINGLE PANEL where she blushes and thinks something like, "Phew, that was close. He smells so good! ...Wait, no, that's not what I meant!." or something like that... would do fucking wonders to improve this shitshow of a manga. But the mangaka can't even fucking do that.

Meh, MC literally just came out of PE there is no way he can smell that bad immediately. And I’d be mad concerned if he didn’t do all those things anyway so kinda useless in my opinion. Seems condescending

@bananaboy Yea, fresh sweat from someone you like is usually fine, while old sweat is stinky basically no matter whose it is.

But in this case it might also be that he's been reusing his clothes a bit too much. Maybe even in general. And she just picked her moment to spare his feeling (so he wouldn't necessarily think he always stinks).
