Subversions and twists

While subversion of overused plot elements, characters and cliches for the sake of it isn't necessarily good writing, I always find it to be at least pleasantly surprising.

What are some of your favorite or notable spins in manga on common archetypes and plot points?

Not necessarily. Just something that you don't usually see in a specific genre or type of story.

For instance, I like how much everyone communicates with each other in the Botan show to quickly sort out misunderstandings, despite it being a love triangle rom-com.
