I hope the author recovers, the author of another series I used to read suffered an accident and as far as I know, they are still recovering. Their work pretty much ended suddenly and at a really low point in the story, so now their story is left unfinished and in a dark path.

The last update was a month or so ago when they closed their Fanbox because they couldn't work so hopefully since then they're a bit better but haven't seen any updates on Twitter, pixiv, etc. Always quite unfortunate when stuff like this happens, both for the story and the author. On the bright side, for this series, I don't think it'll be left on a note like that series you're talking about as vol 2 may very well be the legit end. I haven't read much into vol 2 yet though so we'll see when we get there I suppose.
