Sad, but at least he said it. Plus, they're all young, that girl can probably find a better match for her easily, especially since is still school-age. It's not like they divorced at 40 and he said "Even though we're married, I always felt like you were a younger sister, and that's why we never had kids."

THAT is when it's time for a woman to get upset. Although to be fair, if it reached that point, there were probably problems that should've led to a divorce before then. Preferably in the late 20's or early 30's, while it's still not too hard to remarry.
