Also, hard boiled noir told I. Glittery magical girl/boy style is pretty darn blasphemous. Not to piss inko-chan's biggest fan, but I kinda want to see that.

This is some really terrible and forced drama.
Like their plot or not, no publication company or editor is gonna call someone whose artstyle is BLUE and then tell them to change it all to RED just like that, the bluntness was on-point but everything else was iffy. You could replace this chapter by one shitposter online calling her art shit and lame and it would be 100 times more realistic than this.
