Scanlators don't own the manga though. MD has no rules against sniping, only rules against troll chapters and such.
Oh, a thing people say that "the reader will pick whichever group they like the quality of better". In my opinion, this is true to some extent, but so long as the quality is "readable", most will just read the chapter done by whoever releases it first, so despite that kind of thing, it becomes a time race between the two groups.
Their are tons out there where another group starts scanlating a manga, when other group had already released dozens of chapters.

I did heard a statement made by a scan team which is specialised in releasing korean manhwa. Their work were snipped by other scan team, and they did complain it.
Well the sniping part was that, they just copy paste the translation made by the 1st team, so just to reduce the work load.
Also, when one scan team is already in charge of a manga, other scan team should take permission to release chaps.

Bad font, I'm not even going to pretend to humor this, no matter how good the tl is. Go do a series that's been dropped or hasn't been tl'd yet, why has this become such a problem lately

@Cjames while snipping is not illegal on this site (which is understandable), it does create some problems.
It helps lower-quality releases and allows some shady teams to discourage others and monopolize series.
But protectionism has other disadvantages (like teams that take charge of some mangas but don't release anything).
I think a middle ground should be better but it's kind of hard to make in place and to moderate it.

@Piyush123 Sure it's true that Scanlators don't own the manga. Doesn't change the fact it's sniping.
There are many times when I dont care about sniping. Situations like where the original group is being slow, or the original quality is terrible. This is neither case.

@Clad95150 but we already have persistent and stable scanlator group, which provide us translations with high level of quality. we should at least appreciate their work. it would be nice
