This would have been very impactful if the story is not so overdone and cliche.

god this is such a cliche narrative and its written so hastily and just come out really bland and terrible.

and yet i read like six of these types of stories in a week i consume them like a starving man at a buffet.

Well, you can't fault him for coming clean with her, though he never said he DIDN'T love her, meaning this is going to be a "liar revealed" cliche arc that everyone hates for a little bit, huh?

It's funny . . . maybe I read the "wrong" stuff most of the time, but . . . it's like I instinctively know this is a horribly cliche story line, but I can't actually offhand think of any other examples of it. Normally to become cliche something has to actually be done a bunch, but I guess some things just scream out an inherent cliche-ness.

. . . Hang on, I guess the new Star Wars trilogy is basically one of these.
