The Ancient Magus' Bride - Vol. 13 Ch. 63 - Conscience does make cowards of us all II

So we have a two way attack, the werewolves which seem to be after the actioneer, and one of the wizards, playing with the book, on students first and now on the treachers. My guess is one of the students is the culprit.

That book was indeed what Elias looked into back in Ch. 39. https://mangadex.org/chapter/38293/10

Minor note: Page 8, panel 4, bubble 1 seems have a bit of weird grammar. I would expect, that "skimming can affect the reader."

Thanks for the translation. And particularly for the texts, that aren't in bubbles. I always like those fun little notes.

Well its probably not someone from the family of the farm girl.
They seem to be building living bodies already, so why ever would they need even more necromancy.

@Hennils Good catch I forgot all about that. It reminds me that its been a while since we've seen Elias in that form feels like a blast from the past, nowadays he is mostly a bishoujo.

The timing with the introduction of someone making familiars using dead bodies and the book's contents are so obvious that it looks like a trap.

My guess is the book is what drained most of Lucy's life force during the school trip. And given that the wolves seem to be after Seth now as well, I think the goal of the assassins is to finish wiping out the Websters.

so lets see...
someone stole the book after elias had read it
used the book's contents to steal magic or life force from Lucy and now used it to do something to that professor

Lucy's brother is coincidentally the auctioneer and the dude who had no talent in the family and had to leave, and missed the massacre of the Webster family which Lucy was the only one to survive
now there's werewolves who are hunting down the auctioneer and have killed his bodyguard

it's just things everyone has said already

I had forgotten that many of the professors of the College had body transformations when Paladilhe appeared and i scrolled down the page i got caught by surprise, even if the details of their morals can be hazy by normal standards wizards are a funny bunch.

But things are getting heated, whoever is attacking the College must be well organized and courageous to go against it, if i remember correctly when Chise entered and encountered the director for the first time there was a talk about how the College has been pretty secure because of her, she is a pretty old woman in a world where many don't seem to go past adolescence some times so i think she is pretty powerful and respected too.

I wonder if we might get a hint about chise's family?? Her dad seemed to work for a shady organisation and I feel like they'd need to be at least on par with the college in order to attack them.

A house of magical scribes called Webster? I wonder if Noah Webster is somehow related in the extended canon. A distant cousin, perhaps. 😁
