I think Lucifer was indeed looking for the orb that controls demon kings that the prince used on the Demon King.
In Vol.8 Chapter 4 they say "this is the orb of wish. When the demon realm was created the demon god gave this cursed orb to the devil king, who was being disobedient" (the orb was probably made for him)

I thought the prince was one time use character to introduce the plot devices(it still might be so)

@nhansieu I dont think the prince will be one time use character. The author always used every character. Heck, even the body that devil king talking about is the warrior's body from season one extra chapter. That means from the beginning he knows how will this story end. Some user mentioned about how author effectively used "Cherkov's Gun" and i admit he is right.
