My suggestion doesn't even use water, it's simply crushing him with a big rock. It's hard to swing at someone from under one. And like I said, just stab him in the eye while he's processing that there's suddenly a boulder on top of him. It's dangerous, sure, but their original plan had more potential failure points.

This is cool and all but wouldn't Cyclops have been able to grab one of the rocks and throw them at him? Or maybe break pebbles off the boulder and toss them at him, because those rocks would be flying at like mach 5 with his arms.
