??? MC was going back to apologise to his mother, but now it's already the second time he's saying that he was going back to work, which wouldn't have been that wrong considering he left her there, but now he added "I was going to hurry home before you got back"... is it implying something like "after my part-timejob was over, I was going to hurry back before you came back from your own job, but then that all went down the drain because you followed me" or something?
