@ashding_nerd He knows nothing about this world, so it makes more sense to let them take him out of town on the "safest" path. Then, when they're about to throw him off a cliff or something, he can use his body strengthening skill to survive and interrogate them. Or, in order to not raise the suspicions of the village and gain the negative attention of their king/lord, just pretend he died and go to a different village. He's just playing it smart in a (supposedly) extremely-dangerous world.
