They're supposed to be worried about the fact that if they attack the Big Bad too hard, they might bring down the escape tunnel through which they were hoping to escape from the Big Bad and his armies. But, like, if they kill the Big Bad they don't need to escape--the armies won't know what they're supposed to do and the crown prince has turned to the good guys so he could just tell them to stand down, move along, nothing to see here.
