That was really irritating. It's like seeing a car-chasing scene and the drivers belitter each other how they have 'build' their cars faster. "Training magic" is not totally out of the context, so when readers read this our brains go into overdrive to make sense out it, as we don't recognize it as a mistake immediately. That one was very annoying.
