This chapter reminds me, of all things, of Peanuts. Peppermint Patty fell asleep at the drop of a hat, and this was exploited for gags for years - before it was revealed that she actually had a medical condition that caused her to fall asleep, narcolepsy. This development is kinda like that. And it's hilarious.
