The keys for the trick are the hedge bets and the 'boat' activation code. It's really outstanding move, actually. After all, what can we expect from the useless ones they sold in the waiting room?
@SpacyRicochet the 4th clause of the contract says that "two or more signers of this form" have to confirm the final order, so with Yuuichi + Satone's group, there's two or more signers that makes the contract qualified.
@DarkLordVor Agreed that that's the justification.
But that would also mean that because two people from _one team_ got bought back, they made the gamble valid also for the _other_ teams? That's what's weird, since the gamble for those other teams was made by sold ones, which couldn't gamble, and which remain sold, so their gamble wouldn't be effective. The justification only holds up for team Maffia, which would still be enough to win, so no worries there. But I still find it weird.
@SpacyRicochet well it did kinda pointed out by the bald guy questioning as to why the unqualified teams' should've been unable to participate in the gambling.
Basically once you signed the contract, which anyone of the team can sign, it'd be valid and if you break it you get a 1 billion penalty (page 10). So Yuuichi made a workaround on Manabu's "sold people can't gamble" by making a rule in the agreement that your gamble will be valid once you signed on it (most likely disregarding your sold status). You would also remember that this agreement contract rules was made so that it will be "above all rules" in chapter 55, so making Manabu's and Tomodachi Game's rules on "sold people can't gamble" invalid.
The entire point of Yuuichi being 0 yen is because it wouldn't make sense for them not to sell him if he were actually worth any decent amount, since his ineptitude for straight-up probability gambling has been repeatedly stressed. And the entire point of the manga is to showcase his frankly godlike ability to manipulate people. It's been that way from the beginning. This one is actually one of the lesser ass pulls, especially compared to the hide and seek one.
@GrindEnfant Eh, I wouldn't say that about women's hearts. More men have crushes on him then women, especially considering the distinct possibility of bob being the true traitor
@ricky_rk7
it's because of rule no. 4
that means if yuuichi win 1st bet, mafia team can't buy their friend
so the rule that say need 2 or more people to confirm the order of winning is invalid
since it's only yuuichi that can confirm the order of winning on the main display board (if 2 of yuuichi's team didnt sign the agreement)
or
since no one predict yuuichi's team is gonna winning, so no one win the 2nd bet
its like what the manga say..., whatever the result of the 1st bet yuuichi wont lose any money
@DarklordVor I think that what @SpacyRicochet means is that the contract only bets the money in the possession of the players the moment the right order is confirmed (p. 7) and the following page implies that the sold players don't count as possessing the team's money (and that's the whole reason they made the bet in the first place). But on page 27 of chapter 63, it looks like only the mafia team bought back any team members. Then the order of events is: Yuuichi loses the coin toss game --> Mafia team buys back their guys, nobody else does --> At least two players confirm the order --> Yuuichi wins the money in the possession of the players who made the bet, but team Gigolo's and team Cultist's members are still sold, so they don't count as possessing their team's money. I agree that Yuuichi gets the mafia's money, and that's enough to win back his teammates, but it doesn't look like he should win everyone's money.
Frankly, I think this ending was kind of dumb anyway. Even if the team members sold are the weakest members, that doesn't mean they have to be blisteringly stupid. To be fair, two of the teams are led by a charismatic abuser, so it makes sense that their members are gullible, and the mafia guys have unwavering faith in their boss and his "gambling monster" daughter, but it's still a stretch for them to so easily accept the gamble (I guess Tomodachi game expects teams to be a bunch of idiots led by one or two smart people) when the gamble is so vague as to just say "the amount of money you possess at the time of confirmation". Not to mention that that's a loose definition of "possession" of money- if the money belongs to a team of five, and three people agree to the contract, wouldn't it make more sense to say that they possess 3/5 of that money?
It'd be interesting if Satone joins MC's group and they have game that involve three person as a team. With Satone in, they can have two teams: MC-Bob-Kei team & Tenji-Satone-Shibe team.
