Trapped in a Webnovel as a Good for Nothing - Ch. 14

I really don’t understand her and her brother’s intense loyalty to MC. From the hints we’ve seen, it seems like the original didn’t treat them well, so why are they so loyal? I wonder if we’ll ever get any backstory that explains it...

Why even threaten? Just send it over and be done with it.

Also, one of the most unnecessary "cliffhangers" ever with that skill selection shit. I swear, some of these Korean authors watch too many of those dramas with bottom-tier writing they have a bunch of.

@twinklecake Because it's better to have someone under your thumb so long as you can handle their antics. The more dirt they have on him the more control they can exert because the guy's alternative is to get exposed and disowned or worse, which is the complete opposite of what he wants.

@Petnavis In what world is this petty mook going to be useful? I guess it makes sense that a bodyguard might operate on this level, but if the MC who's read the universe in novel form goes along with it I'd probably just give up on this. There's no way this guy actually becomes helpful without the writing becoming even more shit than it already is, and even if not, the best case scenario is this guy just doing typical villainous clan member shit and dying a cliché death.

Honestly, I'm just tired of having to go through the thousandth iteration of this same character and anything that gives him screentime or extends his relevance to the story is just going to rustle my jimmies.

Lmao yall wanted that bastard to die. I would've used him instead (doing dirty shit like illegal magic stone transportation etc)

@twinklecake For the same reason the MC was before he got a new soul - he is the son of a powerful person. The guy runs an illegal business and does shady shit - naturally this means he has shady connections and can do things for the MC that the MC can't do himself while he's building a certain reputation for himself which he needs to sustain due to his skill.

@Petnavis You keep telling me the things he can do for the MC, but all that shit's fully irrelevant because he very obviously won't do any of it without a personality transplant. Is what I'm trying to get across.

I like it a lot and can't wait for more. It's niether over complicated nor is it dumbed down on a commercial level needs a bit fine tuning but besides the small things It's great

@twinklecake Which is based on jackshit my dude. It's very clear that this is going into the blackmail route and now the MC's camp have enough evidence to back the guy into the corner which will result in either him lashing out or playing ball and given how the ending of the chapter went he's aware of it and feels like he'll play ball.

@Petnavis As I've stated before, it's based on the fact that the MC has literally read what happens to the universe in a book, this minor cliché villain included. It's also based on the fact that this is an extemely 2D character written by a guy who's clearly phoning it in, so his reactions are a given at both the Doylist and Watsonian levels, making this whole exchange universally pointless.

Thanks For Your Hard Work!!!! ♡♡♡ Can't Wait For More!!!! ♡♡♡ And Stay Safe!!!!

Jin Yuri (no homo) is best girl. She's got some insane blackmailing skills. She's the waifu you want protecting your six.
