After all the mystery novel stuff aluded, this trial part still ruins the arc after all these years because Erika's main trick is merely producing evidence on the spot that 'the reader' wasn't informed before and as a proper trial all evidence must be presented and known by both sides before the procedures begin. It's just some cheap way to spin stuff for thrills after trying to preach something that goes against this circus.
