The mangaka in one of her end of volume notes said that she has an angel side and a devil side, this manga appears to have both going on at the same time. A toxic codependent female relationship (she loves writing these lol) and also we see a blossoming maybe healthy one. Imo this is a good setup.

Of course it's always frustrating when misunderstanding drives the drama, I feel like we're getting a setup to have that resolved soon though thanks to Rin's frankness and Ashima's high emotional intelligence. Or we could be here for three more volumes who knows lol.
