I dont think he was alive. I think he was dead from the previous match and they prepared him just for funeral purposes. What we probably saw was some semi afterlife monologue showing him in the coffin. At least thats what I think!

Probably an "out of body experience" What was saw wasnt indicative of what was real, he was probably lying still like a corpse in reality.
