Villains Are Destined to Die - Vol. 1 Ch. 28

Thanks so much for the bulk upload! Always appreciate your work and yes! A cultured woman indeed! Hahaha

It's surprising to think that this docile, seemingly loyal maid was once someone who took joy in harming her. But I hope this forges their relationship bc by gods our protag deserves someone she can trust (and not just control)

i really don't understand what that maid is trying to do, from hurting Penelope with a needle to sucking up to her, what's her deal??

also thanks Asura for the fast fiew updates

@SoulOverCaos I think it's been hinted that everyone in that household was acting according to the writing of the game, but since the MC reincarnated as Penelope, the characters have gained their own free will.

So the Duke, her adoptive brothers, and the maid are not stereotypical villains anymore and they aren't compelled to hate Penelope just because the game forces them to.

Plus Penelope in the game was apparently a spoiled brat who probably tormented the maid at one point too, until the Duke and his sons turned against Penelope allowing the maid to turn the tables on her.

I mean, the entire poking her with needles thing is so weird to begin with...just a poorly written villain in a game.

I think the maid’s needle-poking was more to fit in with the rest of the family/servants that also shunned Penelope in the past. She doesn’t seem to be the type to do it out of anything other than the necessity of “fitting in”.

@HOOfan_1 now that actually sounds so bad, "they mistreated her because of the game settings"...
i hope they'll take the time to elaborate/further explain what actually happened in the past
for now we only know the younger brother was the one the most against her taking the true sister's place (the necklace incident at ch.8), she was already being bullied by a maid before the necklace incident, no one trusted her, she would react violently cause she used to be a commoner and didn't know how to use her status and she had lost the trust in the family and the servants. out of anger she kept behaving worst, spending money and breaking things and worstening her reputation

@SoulOverCaos they have relationship meters floating above their head...and she gets visual prompts for missions...I don't think game characters breaking away from their programming is really all that weird for this story...

Oh Emily thinking its a pure romance... nothing like that until
callisto comes back

@HOOfan_1 nonono the problem is not "breaking away from their programming", the problem is saying "they hated Penelope BECAUSE of the programming, but now it's fine~"
even if there's a relationship meter, what it does is show how close they are to her (it doesn't influence them). the whole story has a realistic setting and it tries to explain how those relationships became the way they are... so what happened with the maid from being a bully to being a fan???

Heh. I guess that's a fair misunderstanding to make. She can just keep on misunderstanding while we try to intercept the daughter of this family.
