I appreciate that they moved this part of the plot along so quickly, but these guys are bad at their jobs. Like, we go straight to 'secret peeping mirror in the baths' before anybody even considers 'my wife saw your wife in the baths'.

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts. Public bathhouses are fairly, well, public? Even if she was trying to keep the mark hidden from the other women too there would've been no better assumption than "Didn't someone in there see it and gossip?"
