I actually kind of agree with you but i do like their esthetics and lore.
My army won 0 battles before i added a knight.
The rules change quite often so your amazing army can turn into shit thanks to the rules.
If you can't buy multiple armies then just choose the one that looks the best. My personal take.

That's also pretty much the reason I started a Mechanicus army. The fleshbags have nothing on the Machine God's superior aesthetics.
