I kind of understand the feeling of calm after cutting yourself, I think self inflicting pain has a relation with feeling better by punishing ourselves?
(I don't cut myself tho)
But cutting yourself in front of others is bad move bruh.

I don't cut myself too but I theorise the "good feeling" that came from cutting is the same feel as back during the medieval age, the so called "Bloodletting" cure, because I read it also gave some sort of a "good feel" to the "patient"

But yeah it might also be the same as the masochism, where the good feel came from being punished and the punishment somehow make his sin erased or something

In her case, she did wonder if she had been imagining it, so it might have been a placebo effect at first. Thinking that cutting could potentially make her feel better, her mind might have eventually come to associate cutting herself with calming down.

Should go donate blood or something, yes I know its probably wont be the same feeling but if its a hobby then she should get a new one. Might try some sports but going hard at it, if shes into pain.

This isn't a hobby, it's a form of mental illness where the one suffering uses physical stimulation (self-harm) to cope with stress of their daily life.

A lot of hobby/sports can be strenuous on the human body (running,wall climbing,etc2) and used to release stress . Those can also be called self-harm as well, just get a majority or loud enough minority to call them mental illness. Time to mainstream cutting yourself with a box cutter and market it as a hobby as well.
