Well thought-out mystery thriller with smart MC

I just really want to read a well-written mystery thriller with a smart MC and villain. Please no edgy stories though.
An example of what I am looking for is Home Hero.

Not edgy? Yes.
Smart MC? YES.
Well thought-out mystery plot that keeps on evolving while simultaneously giving answers, where everything is important and ties properly into the plot? DOUBLE YES.
It may or may not be a thriller though, depending on how you think of it.

The mystery is really good and will keep you at the edge of your seat, and you'll be constantly wondering about the villain. Can't explain much cuz it'll go into spoiler territory, but it's a nice title, so give it a try.
