Why is "living a slow life" such a common trope?

I'm seriously worried about Japan cause I heard that their view on mental illness is less than positive and the amount of trashy "live a slow life" mangas that are out there really speaks volumes for how many people want to insert themselves to these stories, or at least that's what I'm guessing.

Despite what some extreme weebs will have you believe, Japanese culture, like many cultures throughout the world, has its own share of seriously fucked up shit.
The prevalence of salarymen manga, where the dream is to not work overtime every day and return home with a least a tiny bit of self-respect, speaks volumes about the work culture as well.

this is a culture with high number of suicide and death related to work, let them had their peace with those manga.
