@Pokari I think he reworded the question to be something like ‘have you ever stolen back something taken from you’. In other words, phrasing it to not be asking if he committed a crime.
I love this scene. We get a protagonist who can only get through life by overthinking things, and then sensei comes up and tells him exactly what he needed to hear. It’s so satisfying seeing such a flawed character get that little push he needs to figure out what the right thing to do is.
