Another possible reason that the MC making too many potions is a problem is that they probably have to maintain stocks of several different potions (HP, MP, status cures, etc.) So maybe they have enough room/ingredients/bottles for 100 potions and need around 50 HP potions, 40 MP potions, and 10...
