What's sad is that I would find this far more believable if they hadn't jumped immediately to putting pants on a woman as the "most comfortable" option. She's completely forgetting about things like why women wear such big elaborate dresses for public occasions (aka attracting a rich husband). Additionally corsets and everything else aren't uncomfortable by default, waist training corsets was considered a fetish and not the actual style. Even men wore corsets and girdles to smooth out their body.
There are tonnes of beautiful dresses that could be worn without massive hoop skirts or whatever, and if you wanted to to actually make things more comfortable you would be changing the style to that.
Like hell, do you think a woman with her period is going to be able to wear pants when disposable pads weren't even created, and women had to use folded up cotton fabric? Do you think any woman is realistically going to wear white pants for formal events when there's a huge risk of her bleeding through them, or not being able to put off adjusting her wad of cotton like you would when your legs are completely hidden?
This isn't even getting into the issue of how men would immediately find it disgusting for a woman to wear something only men can at that point, and ostracize women who did.
This series is just pissing me off lmao.
