I'm sure I read a book with a story very similar to this one. There were no ogres, but the story is very similar.

I read this light novel about a month ago and this manga makes a lot of little changes, by rearranging the order of things and skipping over a few points, but I think overall its actually telling a better story. I found the light novel to be quite slow at first and then things started picking up around chapters 20-40.
