The reasoning I think the authors using for Ryuki "passing the point of no return" and not people those in the Kure clan, is that they made a choice to kill, while Ryuki instead made the decision not to kill and now he's being pushed into breaking his conviction. The reason this matters is because his relationship with Koga and Kazuo will probably be ruined if he decides to completely abandon his vow to not kill again.
