After re-reading this manga 11 times I just noticed that Otaku-kun might be that same chubby otaku during Najimi's introduction chapter.

If it really is him then that's one hell of a development that didn't go noticed throughout the story.

I like how they break 4th wall from time to time, like when Komi was wondering about growing cat ears.
"a new character", yeah, I was shocked too.
And I happen to follow secondary characters. Kishii-san (girl in armor) is masochist, and she is in Komi imperial guard with Samurai-kun (guy who will be with Otaku-kun in field trip). Interesting

I haven't read Emma yet, it's on my list. But, Komi's imagined maid looks like it might be Kobayashi-san approved.
