"a scream? a sign of victory??'

Welcome to kimetsu no yaiba narrator-san, is this your first day here ?

Is there any back stories in this series so far that's not a tragedy? (except Rengoku's, but his father is a shitty person until Tanjirou punch some sense into him). I bet Sanemi (the wind pillar) said that to protect Genya, he probably doesn't want to lost his only left sibling.

Kimetsu no TRAGEDY sounds more fitting. Now we are about those two brothers that we hated till chapter 100.
The best of chapter is Genya calling his aniki "nii-chan" and the tears before Tanjirou saved him.
Genya is not going to be killed in this fight.

@malu
Maybe he is a new narrator and didn't saw the fight agaist UM6.

@annadonner I think most of them will have a tragic backstory because no one would dedicate his/her life to kill demon and willing to die for it without a reason.

Alert: there's a mistranslation in this chapter that changes the meaning of a lot of things.

夜が明ける does not mean "sun sets", but the opposite, "dawn breaks".
That is, the moment of tragedy took place at dawn when the sun is rising, not dusk when the sun is setting.

This means that the Shinazugawa family stayed awake the whole night waiting for their mother and brother (Sanemi) to return.
This likely means that Sanemi spent the night searching for their mother, but had to go back home to defend his home from the rampaging demon.

This is the reason why Genya found it too dark to see what was attacking them ... makes one wonder if Sanemi and their mother knew who they were actually attacking.
And this is the reason why, despite Sanemi's knife not having any blood, let alone not a Nichirin Blade, their mother was dying in front of them: the rising sun killed her.

---

The last point was something I picked up from Chinese comments: even though Sanemi had blood on him, his knife is clean.

Makes one wonder what happened between Genya trying to save his siblings and Genya running into Sanemi.

@gamria
Thanks for the info, but if it really don't change a lot of things, the facts are that Genya yell his brother muderer and they develop a true hate against demons. And Genya only wants to become pillar to apologize to his aniki.

@Darkchango

I agree, but I've already seen many on the internet confused about how the mother died without a Nichirin Blade, so I thought it best to clarify the mistranslation so that others won't accuse Gotouge-sensei of not making sense.

That aside, I do find the comparisons between the Kamado and Shinazugawa families to be interesting, in background and happenings.
There's a lot I can say about this, but seeing Sanemi's smile in the flashback, it really does make one wonder how Tanjirou could've turned out if Nezuko died too.

@gamria

Thanks for the info. I also feel it's weird that without nichirin blade how come the mother died if the sun is setting. You have some interesting points here. Is it really only Sanemi at that scene or Sanemi didn't attack the mother at all and the sun kill her? Oh if the translation is wrong then another interesting detail is that both Kamodo and Shinazugawa's tragedy happened in early morning when the sun is raising but still dark enough for demon to go out.

I didn't like most of the pillars at first, but now, I can't help but like them
