Yeah. At first I was confused thinking that's the "boyfriend", but no he goes to the fancy school with the smart kids and not to the garbage one with Hina and other lost causes.
So this is one of the pair that were first to "investigate" Hitomi and later got trapped with her and Hina on the mountain, and since then he knows about her powers.
