@dougrayman: The difference is that Shuuko was already interested in Masayoshi (to the point she even tried to confess to him). The girl Tadano confessed to via drawing a giant confession in the sand/snow probably wasn't interested in the guy, or even considered him far outside her "I might date this guy" range and squarely inside the "I would never date this guy in a thousand years" territory.
