I think the comic handles the party well. Everyone is under extreme duress, so they aren't thinking clearly. They didn't expect to be so overwhelmed by what happened. The MC keeps his head more than others because he is constantly dealing with deadly situations due to his weakness. They briefly touched on that in a previous chapter.
