I never said such things don't happen in RL, I was just asking how it happened there
...and to be fair, in America, the corruption of politicians and other such things mostly build up over decades and centuries and even now aren't carried out with blatant threats and open killing of whoever gets in your way; there's efforts taken to hide what's going on, misdirections, scapegoats, and, when all else fails, throwing this or that celebrity into the spotlight to distract the feeble minded masses from the real issue when stuff does get found out
personally, I've pretty much given up on someone fixing things (and I'm not so arrogant as to think I could change it on my own), so I just say f*** it, they'll destroy themselves eventually and if I'm lucky it wont be in my lifetime or at least wont fall back on the ordinary citizens too badly
