What irony, Julius was defeated by a kick for being too wary of the punch, now Wakatsuki made that same mistake (and Wakatsuki defeated bait master Muteba by baiting).

@Kireato @MarkRain
I think it's more like blast core is bad choice against Ohma in general. It was showed in Julius' fight that he needed a little pause and proper distance for the blast to be effective, technique-type fighter like Ohma could easily make it miss (no need to counter everything, avoiding it is a choice too). @BrightSideoLife Since Wakatsuki could not compete on technique side, he opted for brute force dominance, as Sakaya said it looks like a kid's fight. Anyway, blast core had already lost it value as the current Fang switched his fighting style.

On the side note, Beardy commented that it's hard to avoid demonsbane, but I doubted it could pose much threat for him. His signature move is devil lance -- how can Ohma divert a PIERCING attack? What more, he wasn't over-reliant on the lance, just using normal punch & kick was enough for beating almost everyone.

@MarkRain nah, the blast core is really giving dangerous for Wakatsuki, i don't remember the chapter (its in the Waktsuki vs Julius fight) but when Wakatsuki use the blast core, he get injury on his foot due to the power of blast core

@naturaltueur Nah re-read the chapter again, when Julius figured out blast core weakness and on his fight vs Julius you can see Wakatsuki remember his fight vs Fang and how he got the injure in his ankle

Yeah @jimmy204 not showing the fall of Wakatsuki was classy as fuck. Great narrative choice from the author, for a character who really deserved it.

Blast core is later described as a double edged sword. Wakatsuki can't just keep using it unecessarily, and he is not Raian so overkill doesn't matter for him. Especially when has has to fight again so soon. He knows full well he has to be in as good condition as possible to fight the Fang. The way the fight was going and his level of confidence him not using blast cores makes perfect sense. Especially when you factor in that Ohma is the type of fighter that couod dodge the blast core, which would risk him turning the tides against a now weaker Wakatsuki.

I was still rooting for Wakatsuki but I must admit it was pretty classy. The picture of the redirection was a satisfying explanation, counter front kick to the jaw is pretty brutal.
And the teaching from beard-sensei is quite clear, that's nice. Now he have to put maximum damage to the Fang (because he will lost as we all know ;( ), because Ohma winning in that state against a Fang at full power would be a total nonsense.

Those last two pages were really well done. Especially when you see the CEO at the end lose spirit. He knows what's gonna happen.

@ Kathartes

Indeed, I mentioned it earlier, but this fight mimicked the one Wakatsuki had with Julius. :)

Wakatsuki was pummeling Ohma the whole fight, just like Julius had pummelled Wakatsuki. Both Ohma and Wakatsuki showed their trump card to their opponent but failed to finish things then and at the end, Julius and Wakatsuki were countered with a kick which they didn't see coming. Wakatsuki did get back up though.

The real value Wakatsuki got out of the blast core is not actually being to use it, but the fact that it forces his opponents to be cautious about attacking him and that means Wakatsuki can concentrate on attacking, which is what he does best. I wouldn't say the blast core is a bad choice against Ohma, it's a bad choice against pretty much every strong fighter, because they all know how important it is to avoid and all have some fairly polished technique.

currently re-reading this series , i notice that the previous chapter 7 contains a lot of spoilers : ohma fights and beats all the guys that appear in this chapter : wakatsuki takeshi , kure raian , the pro wrestling guy , and kaburagi .
